Dr Julia Brookman is board certified in General Surgery and has been in clinical practice since 2015. She has been serving the community of the greater Phoenix area in various roles, providing her with robust and varied experience. As she has progressed in her career, she has continued to focus her work on the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease, finding this area of surgery particularly rewarding. Dr Brookman uses evidence-based treatment guidelines in a way that includes her individual patient-specific needs and concerns, focusing on a collaborative approach involving multidisciplinary care. She has completed training in Breast Oncoplastic Surgery and Hidden Scar Surgery and actively participates in a multidisciplinary tumor board.
Dr. Brookman believes that knowledge about your own health is empowering and improves patient outcomes. Because of this, she focuses her community outreach on education and awareness and has recorded several podcasts about breast cancer and breast surgery. Dr. Brookman prioritizes establishing a relationship with her patients founded on trust, compassion, and mutual respect. She is a 4th generation surgeon in her family, spanning over 100 years of patient care. Her personal experience caring for family members through their cancer diagnoses and treatments gives her special insight into the needs of patients and their families as they navigate their own cancer diagnosis.
Dr Brookman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
